The wedding (Fatiha) between President Muhammadu Buhari's child, Yusuf, and Zahra, little girl of the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero, in Kano on Friday was a social event of Nigerian pioneers.
The antiquated city of Kano was closed down to pay tribute to the wedding, which drew prominent characters, including the President, to the rural town of Bichi where the occasion held.
From personal luxury planes numbering no less than 20 to rich vehicles, influence bicycles and flimsy vehicles, all streets prompted Bichi for the wedding on Friday. Occupants remained by the side of the road, some with banners and notices of their adored chiefs, waving while the visitors passed.
The Kano-Katsina-Niger government road was closed down as the crowd overpowered the setting. Security was extremely close.
The roll call included President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, previous Niger President Mahamadou Isoufou, previous President Goodluck Jonathan, previous Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Ahmed Lawan and House of Reps Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa.
Likewise in participation were around 12 lead representatives from both All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Among the lead representatives were those of Kano State Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Gombe State Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Cross River State Benedict Ayade, Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto, Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and John Olukayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.
The legislative leaders of Adamawa, Enugu, Bayelsa and Bauchi states were likewise in participation. There were many priests, including the Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Festus Keyamo.
